THE GUARDIAN DUKE---Review & Giveaway

Is it July yet?

Of course, I'm looking forward to that time of year because of the joy that summer brings, but now I have another reason.

The second installment of a book series that I just read comes out that month!

It is NO secret that I LOVE to read and that is a TRUE passion that I have.  In addition to all the books I read to the kids or as part of teaching and my daily time spent in God's word, I read at least 250 books a year for myself.  I just can't help myself.  I HAVE to have a book nearby at all times!  (My current facebook fast has also allowed LOTS more reading time!)  One of the greatest perks of living where we are now is the INCREDIBLE library system.  It constantly ranks in the top 100 nation wide.

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to review a new Christian fiction book from BH Publishing Group.  My favorite type of book to read besides those that are Christian development (marriage, family, life, etc...) is historical fiction.  I LOVE to get lost in a time period and easily get "swept" away.

I was also thrilled to be reading from a new author that I wasn't familiar with.  I get excited when I "discover" a new author that I was previously unaware of.

About the Book:

"The Guardian Duke is award-winning novelist Jamie Carie’s most exciting story yet, a uniquely arranged Regency-era romantic adventure where hero and heroine know each other through written letters but have yet to meet.

Gabriel, the Duke of St. Easton, is ordered by the King to take guardianship over Lady Alexandria Featherstone whose parents are presumed dead after failing to return from a high profile treasure hunt. But Alexandria ignores this royal reassignment, believing her parents are still alive and duly following clues that may lead to their whereabouts. Gabriel, pressured by what are actually the King’s ulterior motives, pursues her across windswept England and the rolling green hills of Ireland but is always one step behind.

When they do meet, the search for earthly treasure will pale in comparison to what God has planned for both of them."

MY Opinion:  I loved it.  I love the settings of both England and Ireland.  The characters quickly drew me in.  When the book ended, I wanted to turn the page to see what happened next.  I'm impatiently waiting for the summer to arrive to read the 2nd installment in the "Forgotten Castles" series.  I'm already requesting other Jamie Carie books from our library.  Something neat about Jamie:  she's a homeschool mom!  How about that!

Continuing with our giveway/review Blitz this week:  one reader can receive their on copy of "The Guardian Duke".  To enter:  just leave a comment telling me YOUR favorite Christian fiction author (mine is Karen Kingsbury) or if you aren't familiar with any....just a comment saying you'd like to be entered.  Be sure to leave your name and email for me to contact you if you are the winner!  Giveway ends on March 10th and I hope to announce all the winners of this week's giveaways on the 11th.
